Here at Biology Fortified, we’ve got a lot of projects going on. From databases of research, to infographics, blog posts, citizen science and more, we do what we do because we love science and we want more people to understand and appreciate it as well. We have only been able to accomplish what we have thanks to support from our readers and fans, as well as a couple small competitive grants. In the past year, we introduced a monthly membership program that enables us to have the resources to sustain this work and start bigger projects.
I’m excited to announce that one of these projects that we have conceptualized, discussed here on our blog, in our plushie kickstarter, and in more places than I can count is making its debut next week. We’re launching Cooking with Frank N. Foode™ with its first pilot episodes, with more in the works! This is a web video series that will discuss topics related to genetics, biotechnology, chemistry, agriculture, and more – using cooking and creativity with food science and storytelling to break it all down into bite-sized pieces – literally.
Nightmare teaser trailer
So for your enjoyment, I’ve prepared a teaser trailer. While much of the show will be light and silly, there are important issues involved so I’m dialing up the drama. This was a lot of fun to make, and jam-packed with hints about what is coming your way!

It would be nice for people who are looking for these different foods to be able to find them somehow. There’s a lot of discussion about them online, but not everyone knows how they will be able to get them in a store. At the very least I’ll talk to the various companies and organizations to find out how people can find their foods when they are out, but I can certainly say that not every video will be about crops available in the U.S., (like Bt Brinjal) but the recipes I plan to use will bring some local culture into everyone’s kitchens so they can still experience it.

Also, not every show will be about biotech topics – I’ll be sending people on treasure hunts to find red jalapenos, mexican papayas, and more. The intent is for every recipe to be accessible to anyone who wants to learn about the science in their kitchen!

I’m unconvinced of GMO safety, mainly because the strongest risk triggers associated with proprietary practices don’t appear to have been addressed with standards-compliant risk identification and assessment we would ordinarily use in organizational analysis. Further: despite many discussions, I’ve yet to encounter anyone who holds the position that GMO’s are proven safe who also holds any credential in risk assessment or analysis. Can anyone here refer me to such a person?
