Tax Exemption
The Biofortified website launched in 2008, and in 2012 we incorporated as Biology Fortified and applied for tax exemption. In 2013, the IRS approved our application, designating Biology Fortified, Inc. as a 501(c) tax exempt nonprofit, making donations tax-deductible.

Board Governance
Biology Fortified, Inc. (BFI) is managed by a Board of 3 to 9 Directors, serving 2 year terms with no term limits. The Directors are elected during BFI’s annual meeting, and are not compensated for their role in determining the course of the organization.

Conflicts of Interest Policy
Conflicts of Interest (COI) are an important issue for our work. BFI has a long-standing policy on disclosing relevant conflicts of interest both for board members and for volunteers and contributors. Our current COI policy was adopted in 2013.

Confidentiality Policy
Biology Fortified protects confidential and person information disclosed to our organization, such as private donor information, personal details of project volunteers and participants, and organization business. To ensure this, we have adopted a confidentiality policy for our board members, employees, and volunteers to adhere to. You can be confident that your information is secure with BFI.
